STUNNING MARK WALSH GOAL ENSURES ROSSES CS WIN THRILLING CP O’DONNELL MEMORIAL CUP FINAL

first_imgIn a fitting tribute to the late, great CP O’Donnell, a sensational cup final produced a five-goal cracker and the winner came courtesy of a sublime solo-effort from Mark Walsh which clinched  glory for Rosses CS.The first-year competition was named in memory of CP O’Donnell known locally as Paddy Murray. He led many Rosses CS soccer sides to glory over the years including an historic All-Ireland win in 1982.So it was written in the stars that Enda Walsh’s men would come out on top in the first year the competition which was re-named after the much revered and sorely missed Paddy Murray. The game itself was a cracker and Rosses CS flew out of the traps and didn’t let St Eunan’s settle.Michael McFadden pounced on an error by the Eunan’s net minder and fired RCS ahead after fifteen minutes. St Eunan’s responded well and equalised through the lively Dylan Doogan with ten minutes of the second-half remaining. However, RCS would regain the lead again thanks to the brilliant McFadden who showed superb footwork before unleashing a rasping effort that nestled in the bottom corner.Eunan’s refused to lie down and produced a sustained and spirited performance and deserved their equaliser when it came through Doogan again with just FIVE minutes left. However, there would be another late twist, the outstanding Mark Walsh picked up the ball inside his own half and embarked on a mazy solo run.He went past five or six players before slotting home expertly to give RCS the CP O’Donnell cup.The large crown in attendance were absolutely delighted and Paddy Murray would’ve been looking down on Maghery with a big smile on his face. Paddy’s son Mel O’Donnell presented the cup to winning captain Azeem Madden.Well done to both sides for a great final.STUNNING MARK WALSH GOAL ENSURES ROSSES CS WIN THRILLING CP O’DONNELL MEMORIAL CUP FINAL was last modified: May 22nd, 2015 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window)Tags:CP O’DonnellnewsRosses CSsoccerSportSt Eunanslast_img read more
