A source apparently informed Eurogamer that a sequel is more or less confirmed.Borderlands 2 has been the subject of a great deal of speculation as fans having been clamoring for a sequel to the critically acclaimed first-person shooter. Earlier this year in April, “Borderlands 2” was spotted on a game developer’s CV. All fingers pointed towards a statement at this year’s E3, but unfortunately, there was no word about a sequel.Following the CV discovery, though, Gearbox Software head Randy Pitchford said that the developer intended to return to the Borderlands universe, but he did not say when.Borderlands was released in 2009 to widespread critical acclaim. It was a new IP that gamers flocked to. Following the success of its new franchise, Gearbox consistently released DLC for the game.The game was so popular and engrossing that a dedicated fan saw fit to reach out to Gearbox to help him with his marriage proposal. Gearbox heard Ben’s request and constructed a video in which Claptrap tells Ben’s girlfriend that he has something important to say.A sequel to Borderlands, should it happen, would be one of the most anticipated video game sequels. Gearbox’s recent release was the long-awaited and largely-disparaged Duke Nukem Forever.
