Vulfpeck Performs & Explains The Story Behind “1612” In XM Studios Session [Pro-Shot Videos]

first_imgLast month, Vulfpeck stopped by Sirius XM studios in NYC for a special performance on Jam_ON (Ch.29). They performed a number of songs for “The Jam Files”, including their own “1612”, “Fugue State”, and a cover of Stevie Wonder‘s “Boogie On Reggae Woman”.Bandleader and Volfmon Jack Stratton revealed to host Ari Fink the significance of “1612” in a segment, explaining: “I was subletting an Airbnb with a security code of ‘1612’ and it just kept coming up! People texting me, ‘What’s the code?’ Guys calling me, ‘Do you remember the code?’ It just occurred to me that 1612 was really happening in my life at that point, and I wanted to lend some significance to it with that song.”He continued, “I’m a big fan of number-based songs, lending significance to combinations of numbers. So I wanted to get into that world, too, get into that Wikipedia list of songs about numbers. Just a lot of goals coming together in that song.”It is also the vocal contributions of Sir Antwaun Stanley that really make the song come to life. “The beauty of Antwaun Stanley is you give him these somewhat absurd lyrics, but they sound like they were etched in stone with the virtuosity and commitment he has to the lyrics,” Stratton explains.Vulfpeck’s upcoming record, The Beautiful Game, is set to release on October 17. So far, the only song performed live is “Cory Wong”, a track named after frequent collaborator and guitarist Cory Wong. Cory played throughout Vulf’s multi-night NYC takeover, as did keyboardist Joey Dosik. Both are featured in the performance videos below!Theo Katzman uses the voice box to keep the rhythms a plenty during an Antwaun-led version of “Boogie On Reggae Woman”.Enjoy this stripped-down, smooth-groove rendition of “1612” unlike any version we’ve heard before, featuring Antwaun Stanley, Joey Dosik, and Cory Wong! Jack Stratton explains the significance of “1612”:Vulfpeck’s performance on The Jam Files will premiere at 12 p.m. ET on Oct. 10 and will replay throughout the week. Don’t miss out! This whole studio performance came just hours after keyboardist Woody Goss brought Live For Live Music on a birdwatching adventure through Central Park. Watch how it all went down here! After four shows across seas, Vulfpeck is back on American soil and returns to the stage this evening at the Electric Factory in Philadelphia. The show is sure to be a good time, but will undoubtedly be extra funky with the addition of the Swift Technique horns. Photos and videos to come.last_img read more

ICC World Cup ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: KL Rahul as opener, this could be India’s playing XI vs New Zealand

first_imghighlights New Zealand has won their first three games in World Cup 2019.India defeated South Africa and Australia in the World Cup.New Zealand has a 4-3 advantage in World Cups against India. New Delhi: Virat Kohli’s Indian cricket team are on the ultimate high after beating five-time world champions Australia at the Oval by 36 runs. Their next encounter will be against New Zealand, a side whom they recently beat 4-1 in the ODI series to win in New Zealand after 10 years. However, the Kiwis are a dangerous side. Kane Williamson’s team won the warm-up game and have a 4-3 head-to-head advantage against India in World Cups, having never lost to India in England. Williamson’s side will also be hoping to capitalise on some distractions for the Indian cricket team, with Shikhar Dhawan being ruled out for the next 10-12 days due to a hairline fracture on his thumb. However, the rain has been persistent in Nottingham with both the practice sessions being washed out. There have been unseasonal rains throughout England with three games getting washed out, two without a ball bowled or a toss. However, if the match takes place, India would be looking to make some changes in the line-up. With Dhawan out, KL Rahul will slot in as the opener along with Rohit Sharma. MS Dhoni might move to No.4 in the line-up while the fifth or the sixth slot could be filled by Vijay Shankar or Dinesh Karthik. Shankar’s inclusion could give India a lot more variety in their bowling and batting. Karthik could boost the batting but with Shankar having played some games, he might get the nod.The wicket in Trent Bridge on which the match will be played has a bit of green and it is a hard wicket. The extra bounce and seam that could be on offer in this wicket could give a chance to Mohammed Shami. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who bowled well in the game against Australia, rediscovered a bit of his touch but Shami has been in great form and he posed plenty of problems to Martin Guptill and Colin Munro in the powerplay during the series in New Zealand.Dhawan’s injury has posed some questions to the Indian batting order. However, they have depth in the squad.News Nation’s India Playing XI vs New Zealand:KL Rahul, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni, Vijay Shankar, Hardik Pandya, Kedar Jadhav, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah For all the Latest Sports News News, ICC World Cup News, Download News Nation Android and iOS Mobile Apps.last_img read more
