Scotland snatch last gasp win over Samoa

first_imgWednesday Dec 1, 2010 Scotland snatch last gasp win over Samoa Scotland came from behind to take a half time lead and eventually sneak the win as a late Ruaridh Jackson penalty kick helped the home side beat Samoa 19-16 in Aberdeen on Saturday. Its Scotlands fifth win in their last six Tests this year.Samoa scored a lovely converted try through their ever impressive scrumhalf Khan Fotualii after a neat chip ahead from George Pisi. Nikki Walker then crossed for a rare Scottish try that came from a neatly worked set piece move.Dan Parks kept the scoreboard ticking and at 16-13 up after a dropgoal and a few penalties, it took the boot of Paul Williams to keep Samoa in the game and get things level.Replacement flyhalf Jackson came on for his second ever Test with twenty minutes left and kept his nerve to slot the deciding penalty with time up in front of his home ground.“I’ve supported Aberdeen since I was a kiddie and loved going to Pittodrie to support them. In those days I imagined that one day I might get the chance to get out on to that pitch and score an important goal,” Jackson said.“I was pretty nervous when I prepared to take the penalty. I just lined it up as usual – connected well, and thankfully it sailed between the posts.“OK, it turned out it wasn’t for Aberdeen – but you can’t get better than claiming the winner for your country. I hope I have also brought back the winning feeling and a bit of sporting joy to the city and that the football lads can take some inspiration and start getting some good results again.“After the final whistle sounded I ran across to my girlfriend Kirsty and her folks – then my mum and dad came down to the side of the pitch and she gave me a huge hug.“It was all just magical,” he beamed. Denying kids a daddy – it’s not a gift

first_imgNZ Herald 21 June 2014Grant Triplow is 43 and describes his build as athletic. He is 178cm tall and weighs 90kg. His hair and eyes are dark brown and he has olive skin. These facts, without his name attached, along with his occupation and medical history are how he will first be encountered by clients of a sort – clients sizing up his reproductive powers.Mr Triplow is a sperm donor – a good one according to a medical assessment of his sperm’s motility and quantity.“I was told it’s strong and the count is quite high.”He has Maori ancestry and this may be his most attractive feature, given that amid a shortage of sperm donors overall, the scarcity is most acute for women and couples who want a Maori, Pasifika or Asian donor.http://www.nzherald.co.nz/lifestyle/news/article.cfm?c_id=6&objectid=11278465last_img read more

Aarons woe for Newcastle

first_imgNewcastle midfielder Rolando Aarons may have played his last game this season after suffering another injury setback. The 19-year-old was in contention to play for the club’s under-21s against Derby on Wednesday evening along with fellow long-term absentee Siem de Jong. However, Press Association Sport understands he has succumbed to injury once again and it is feared his campaign could be over. The Magpies declined to comment, but Aarons’ loss would be yet another blow to head coach John Carver, who has seen his side defeated in each of its last five Barclays Premier League games amid a suspension and injury crisis which shows few signs of abating. Midfielder Moussa Sissoko was sent off during Monday night’s loss at Liverpool to ensure his own enforced spell on the sidelines just as Carver prepares to welcome skipper Fabricio Coloccini back from a three-match ban. Carver can not call on striker Papiss Cisse, who has three more games to serve of his suspension, while Steven Taylor, Paul Dummett, Massadio Haidara, Cheick Tiote, Aarons and De Jong have all been missing for some time with most having kicked their last ball of the campaign. Newcastle had hoped Aarons’ pace and direct approach would give them some fresh impetus with their season having careered to a halt in recent weeks. The exciting winger has made only five senior appearances to date this term, the last of them on November 1 when he was used as a first-half substitute in a 1-0 league win over Liverpool at St James’ Park. center_img Press Associationlast_img read more
