Video: Bool’s brightens strangers’ days by gifting bouquets for ‘Petal it Forward’

first_img Tagged: bool’s flower shop, Petal it Forward ITHACA, N.Y. — If you happened to be in the downtown Ithaca area last Wednesday, you may have noticed a peculiar sight: people all over were carrying bright bouquets of flowers. The Ithaca Voice tracked down the source of the floral spectacle to Bool’s Flower Shop of North Aurora Street, which is celebrating 125 years since owner Henry Bool first opened its doors to the public. More by Jacob Mroczek Bool’s current owner, Doreen Culver-Foss, decided that since they were celebrating such an historic birthday, they should participate in ‘Petal it Forward’, an international gift-giving program lead by the Society of American Florists. When asked, personally, why she wanted to hand flowers out to strangers, Culver-Foss replied, “I hope they smile, and I hope they’re very happy and it makes their day… a little brighter, their week a little brighter.”The Society of American Florists reported that “650 floral teams in all 50 states plus Canada, Colombia, and Puerto Rico surprised passersby in their local communities with two free bouquets each—one to keep, and one to share with a friend, family member, co-worker, or even a complete stranger.”Check out the video below, and please share it with a friend!Video by Jacob Mroczek/The Ithaca Voice Your Arts & Culture news is made possible with support from: Jacob Mroczek last_img read more
